Weather Conditions in Cancun

When you choose a vacation destination, one of the first things you want to know is what the weather will be like. Luckily for anyone who is going on vacation to Cancun, the weather is perfect for a beach getaway any time of the year. Many people deem Cancun to have one of the best climates of all the Caribbean destinations, with the most sunny days per year on average.

    Sunshine and Hours of Daylight

When you look at statistics for Cancun, the destination is reported to enjoy almost 250 days of clear sunny skies a year. It is unlikely that you will experience bad weather for the whole time that you are staying in the area, unless you are unlucky to be there while there is a hurricane somewhere in the Caribbean. The days when the skies are not perfectly clear is no hindrance to sunbathing on the beach or by the pool as temperatures remain high, regardless of cloud cover. The hours of daylight are also pretty consistent ranging from 11 to 13 hours a day. This makes it a great place during winter when dark evenings have descended on North America.

    Temperatures

Cancun boasts warm temperatures throughout the year, even during the height of winter. You can expect anything from 66ºF (19ºC) to 91ºF (33ºC) with average high temperatures in summer reaching around 90ºF (32ºC) and lows of 75ºF (24ºC). In winter, you will enjoy very pleasant temperatures around 81ºF (27ºC) with an average low at night of 66ºF (19ºC). The sea temperature is perfect, oscillating from 80ºF (26ºC) and 83ºF (28ºC), which makes swimming an absolute delight, even in winter.

    Precipitation

Needless to say that it is not going to snow in Cancun until the next ice age. However, there is chance of rain during your stay although you will probably welcome the warm light precipitation to refresh the atmosphere. Cancun does not have a strict rainy season like other areas in Mexico, but nor is rain likely to ruin your vacation. With only an average of 60 days a year of rain, you will probably only see a quick shower.
